Crossing through Atlantic… or On the way to Boston…
Today I saw the best sunset EVER!!!! Those colors no one can describe, no artist can paint, no poets can portray. I was so excited when I saw it, it raise my spirits and finally cheers me up. I needed it badly after a crazy day in Boston. But the saddest thing ever, I even wasn’t able to get off the ship and enjoy it… :( I definitely need a camera next time. Hopefully it will be the same amazing view!!! But about it later, now about the crossing with a lot of nice places.
After we said goodbye to England we started our way to America. First stop – France. To tell the truth, I expected nothing from it, as I never dreamed about going to Paris, I didn’t think I would like it. Moreover, I always thought that Eiffel tower is a waste of space, as it’s a strange and ugly construction right in the center of the city, and you can see it pretty much from every spot in Paris.
I had a bad beginning with this trip to Paris, as I didn’t manage to be on time to pay for crew tour, so I tried another option – guest tour escort, which is free, but less fun. Anyway, I was the 7th or the 8th on the list, so my chances to get it were almost zero. I tried to find other options, going out on my own, on the train (the biggest problem was – the distance from the place we dock, which is La Harve and Paris, it’s around 2.5-3 hours drive, and we have schedule, we need to be on the ship by the certain time, so you cannot be late). I was lucky and got a free ticket. I was happy and sad at the same time.
I didn’t like the tour itself, as most of the time we just were on a bus, looking outside from behind the window. But the end of it was perfect. I have great pictures with my “ugly” tower, I was so happy, I was jumping high all the time. :)
I walked along romantic and inspiring streets of Paris and I had a lunch right under the tower. I loved the city. So beautiful and cozy. I hope I will go there one day to see more. And I want to go to d’Orsay museum! That’s the country of impressionists, how could I even try to think I won’t like it!!!! :)
Unfortunately in Cherbourg we had a drill, and we sail away early, so I wasn’t able to get off the ship. Just forget about it, and go further.
Next stop – Ireland. The only thing I realized in Ireland. I LOVE UNITED KINGDOM!!!!! Adorable, nice and beautiful country! Cork was sad and happy at the same time, again. I think all about crossing has two sides, pretty much like everything in life. My roommate was leaving, so on one hand, I was going to be on my own for couple of days, which is always good, but Pam is such a FUN, I miss her very much, even though it wasn’t always easy to be her roommate and friend.
I didn’t know what to do on this day, as I didn’t book a tour, but when I heard that my friend is going on a crew tour where he is going to meet my roommate (she is from Ireland and was signing off that day) and her mum. I checked with the crew office, and as there were available places, I went on this tour too. We had an amazing day in Blarney castle and afterwards we went to the ship.
Dublin was also very nice, we were running around the city, but we manage to do pretty much everything, the only thing that we missed was a Dublin castle. We were looking for it for hours, but when we thought we found it, we not… as it was a cathedral. Don’t know if it’s funny or nor, but the castle was right around the corner... Anyway it was funny and good day. I liked the castle very much, even though someone told that it’s more like a tower, that a castle. For me it was great, and I loved nature, a lot of greenery and flowers!!!!
Day at sea was quick and pain free. The only problem, people on board don’t want to spend money. And we don’t have a lot of merchandise for the itinerary, so we spend most of the time on the shop floor alone, just thinking about life, which is definitely not good for me.
Than we had the best country ever! Even though it was very-very cold, I enjoyed Reykjavik very much. In the evening we had fun with girls in bars and cafes, and next day we had a relaxing day at blue lagoon, the result – no one was able to work that evening… all were sleeping beauties on the shop floor. Iceland is the country I would definitely go back to. So different and so unique.
After all this amazing ports three days at sea were like a disaster. But we survived, even had a dinner all together in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. Nice but small and boring place. But we finally enjoyed the meal and had some fun together.
After that two more days at sea – and we are finally got to America.
p.s. First Boston was awful. I had to move to another carbine, packing, moving and unpacking – not fun. Immigration afterwards, then stores, then more unpacking, then work… and we finally over, and can go to our rooms and get ready to the drill and coast guard tomorrow… Wish me good luck and NO questions at all…. PLEASE!!!!!!!
